Meet, Abdul Sattar Edhi. The real hero and philanthropist of Pakistan.

#1. He was born in India before subcontinent’s partition. His mother used to give him two paisa’s. One paisa his meal and another to give to a poor child.

#2. When he was 19 his mother died. After being paralyzed by a stroke. After the partition, he moved to Karachi, Pakistan.He started working at a wholesale shop.

#3. Then later he become a selling agent for cloths market. During this time, he became very serious about serving sick and poor.

#4. In 1951 he founded Edhi foundation. Where he started a free dispensary for poor people, among other services.

#5. He also bought an ambulance with the help of donations from people. In 1957, he contributed a lot to Asian flu epidemic.

#6. He eventually received a generous donation from a rich businessman. He set up several hospitals, orphanages and women’s shelters across Pakistan.

#7. In his life, he established a world largest network of 1500+ ambulances. He also built more than 300 welfare centers across Pakistan.

#8. His foundation has about 50000+ orphans and trained nearly 40000 nurses. Also rescued over 20000 abandoned newborn babies.

#9. He also donated $100,000 for Hurricane Katrina in the USA. He has earned several awards including a nomination of Nobel peace prize.

#10. The humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi died on July 8, 2016. His death has brought tear in eyes of every human being. At the time of his death, he even donated his eyes.
